Automotive

We have automotive experience in all global markets, especially Europe, Japan, Korea, North America and South Africa. Our clients ask for detailed understanding of subject matter from a technical and business point of view. In the last 20+ years our employees did automotive consultancy and project management for most OEMs, including the usual large OEMs, but also start-ups and electric manufacturers in Silicon Valley.

Typical consulting engagements range from financial topics such as arbitrage modelling of parts pricing to the analysis of the relative merits of different LiDAR technologies. In our opinion, a strong understanding of business and technical aspects brings enormous value in both areas.

Our hands-on approach goes way beyond the usual expectation of consulting services. For technical understanding and benchmarking, we disassemble parts and perform detailed technical analysis. To support our solutions for system integration, we also build and test complete systems for our clients. Generally, we work for tier 1 suppliers because these are the most useful for our systems engineering skills, but we do work with both OEM and tier 2 customers.

Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity consulting is one area where we have vast expertise due to the company’s combined experience in cybersecurity topics. We help our clients to analyse, create concepts, find vulnerabilities in their systems and support them to harden their systems with regards to cybersecurity. Although our expertise lies in automotive cybersecurity, we also deal with general IT security and provide consultancy to our customers.

Safety and security

Our employees have worked in the safety and security industry since the ‘90s. The beginning was with the design of specialised tyres for short braking distances, tyre pressure monitoring and retracting seat belt systems. Over time we added project experience with ADAS camera, LiDAR and ultrasonic sensors. Within the domain of safety and security, we provide essential knowledge to our clients to assist the design of safety systems. We consider the impact of technology and design decisions on the overall safety of the vehicle occupants and other road users. Examples of engagements include technology decision making based on predicted NCAP test results or HARA analysis for ISO26262 applications.

Internet of things

At Syntbit, we use sensors from the automotive industry that are robust and low cost. We carry them over to other industries to perform sensing operations in other applications. This process helped us to

achieve significant improvements in transportation or household industry. Our tools and technologies can also be used for internet of things business. For example, diagnostic tools and techniques used in automotive can easily be applied to consumer goods or industrial applications to achieve predictive maintenance, fast analysis of warranty returns or fault finding for corrective action.

Due to its nature, telematics is part of the automotive and part of IoT. We are working on the proof of concepts for automatic parking systems where the driver can find a free parking spot and book it directly from a mobile app and confirm when s/he has parked. Once it is parked, the driver can confirm the parking and pay also using the same app. It reduces the stress of finding a free parking spot in a city with traffic issues.
